Class Information
6th grade art
Name design and font development starts each student off right as they design the covers of their class working folder and portfolio. The class then enbarks on their first year in middle school art. They learn about the Elements Of Art: color ,line, shape, texture, space, form and value. Each art project and lesson will focus on one or several of these basic building blocks of art.
7th grade art
We start with the study of art history. Modern masters like Henri Matisse and Andy Warhol show us how the modern world expresses itself. The students produce pieces inspired by this art style. They later begin to focus their attention on their fine drawing skills utilizing the Elements of Art combined with The Design Principles: balance,emphasis,movement,pattern,repetition,proportion,rhythm,variety and unity.
8th grade art
Fashion takes the stage as the students start their first unit of study. They will learn all about the carrers in the industry with a strong emphasis on hands on technique development: designing shoes, bags, clothing illustrations and sewing basics. The students will then extend their drawing and painting experiences to include a jewelry design and a full canvas painting. At the end of their coarse each student will make a digital portfolio power point presentation that documents and highlights their strongest areas and works.
