Course Overview:  In Middle School Art, students will explore the basic elements of art, line, shape, color, balance, value, space, texture and pattern.  How these elements affect their daily lives and the importance of developing their creativity both visually and in written form will be realized. They will complete projects using pencils, markers, colored pencil, paint, pastel, charcoal, mixed media and sculptural materials. Each project will be concluded with ether a written self evaluation, artist statement or critique.

Portfolio:  Each student is responsible for keeping a final project portfolio. This consists of a folded piece of poster board that is neatly labeled with the students name and grade. This portfolio will be kept at school and is part of the final grade. The portfolios will go home at the completion of the Fine Art course.

Supplies:  1 piece of white poster board 22x28 in , 1 three tong pocket folder with 20 sheets white copy paper, 12 wooden pencils, 2 pink pearl erasers and     1 hand held pencil sharpener.

!!!!!!!!!STUDENTS MUST BE PREPARED WITH CLASS SUPPLYS EACH DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Donations: Recycled materials will sometimes need to be brought to school by the student. We need a steady supply of newspapers, foam egg cartons, small shallow plastic cups (yogurt, applesauce, fruit etc.) Please send in these items washed and dried whenever you have them. If you have fabric, yarn, paper, wall paper rolls, or any other items you think the creative minds could use, please email me to verify the need. We must all think out of the box to move forward in leaps and bounds.

Course Objective: Students will meet the state mandated standards in art as stated in the Georgia Performance Standards located on the Georgia Department of Education web site.

Art is in everything we say do and create. We can design our life intentionally and see our planned dreams come true.  You can also choose to free style your way thruogh your days and end up with whatever comes your way. You have the paintbrush in your hand. See your life with eyes wide open. Live your life with your heart open and always be true to who you are.
